Please Note: £14.50 is price per individual custom length patch cable.
An ordering guide for all Practical Patch Patch Cables:
Practical Patch works on the philosophy that you will order what you actually require therefore, charges a flat rate between 9 cm-100 cm of Van Damme Pro Patch cable used. For Patch cables at a length greater than 100 cm and up to a maximum of 200 cm an additional £1.30 is charged. To purchase a Patch cable beyond 100 cm in length please select "note" in the drop down length menu and use the text field provided to write the length you require.
Length chosen will be provided as the length of visible cable between each connector.
It is advised that when measuring Patch cables, specifically for pedalboards, to provide the length required from socket to socket by its longest route planned, the length provided will be the minimum length of the cable you receive.
One of the best ways to measure with what you possibly have lying around is to use a piece of string and a marker pen. Once you have created your cable run, mark the length of the string and then, measure the length against a ruler or a firm measuring tape.
Orientation:
Zeta VS Omega: As pictured this dictates whether or not the connectors are pointing in the same or opposite directions. Ordering in Zeta is only really essential when ordering cables under 15 cm in length or when choosing a less flexible offering such as Sommer the Spirit XXL Patch Cables which are available elsewhere on the website.
Cable Description:
- ESP Right Angle Evidence Audio Connectors, some of the smallest soldered connectors on the planet with a construction like no other, brass conductivity from signal solder joint to tip of connector, nickle plated to withstand the elements, actual graphite deployed for black finish (unlike other connectors that just use paint!) making these ESP connectors entire housing have continuity with ground for a lower noise floor (think copper tape or graphite painted inside your instruments control cavity)
- Black Van Damme Pro Patch, Low Cap running at 90 pf/ M, probably the most flexible Patch Cable on the planet and deployed in so many important venues worldwide its hard to know where to begin. From Artists Tattoo Guns to wiring up Abbey Road, this British Company know a lot about making great cables. I like to think of these Patch Cables as East meets West. The best America and the United Kingdom have to offer, packaged for you at a very competitive price compared to other Custom Patch cable options on the market in the UK, whilst I'm sure you'll have heard of other cables such as Mogami this and Sommer that, when it comes to the right fit for both plug, purpose and price, these patch cables absolutely nail it, honestly if you know even just a little, the fact these cables now exist should make you feel over the moon!
- Custom Length to your choosing, no nonsense, no unnecessary Practical Patch branding, just a solid, truly low profile connector that can fit pedals that others of similiar shape simply never will
Alternative Cable Options: If you would like to have these Evidence Audio connectors at custom length built with some Evidence Audio cable then please get in touch with Practical Patch direct either via email or social media for a quote. Please be conscious though that for example patch cables produced with Evidence Audio Black Rock cable will cost considerably more. Provided stock exists with my UK supplier all Evidence Audio products can be shipped to me next day.
So whats all the Fuss about? Here's what Evidence Audio has to say from their website:
ESP-RA™ PLUG DESCRIPTION
The ESP-RA™ is the first solderable 1/4" phone connector from Evidence Audio and designed (like all of our products) with the primary purpose to sound demonstrably better than anything in its class.
What class does it fall in? Its compact size and angled format makes it especially suitable for use with smaller cables on pedalboards specifically. Cables with an outer diameter of 4 mm, or around 0.155".
The current flood of plugs used to solder Patch Cables for a guitar pedalboard typically use a steel nail or pot metal to conduct the audio signal. Ferrous. Magnetic. While these plugs are compact for pedalboards, they cut corners by using inferior metals to carry the sound. They offer greater affordability yet greatly reduced audio quality.
MATERIALS
The contact points of the ESP-RA™ are machined from a high-copper-content brass. Brass offers the appropriate hardness and strength required for a connector with very good conductivity to minimize distortions caused by the cable the plugs are used on.
PATENT-PENDING DESIGN
The form factor is akin to a "pancake" style plug, with a patent-pending closure system that allows for the plug to be assembled with one screw instead of two. This allows for a smaller form-factor as well as reduced assembly time.
